Like everyone on a journey - I'd like to have a way to document and hopefully help others. From my first year as an Assistant Principal, to my current year in the midst of high school [for the first time since my own high school graduation], I am in some strange new waters and I'd like to learn from my greater PLN and impart the few things I've learned along the way. The Year of APing Dangerously Podcast will be the place and space to welcome that dialogue.
Change is constant, and especially in education. My career journey began in corporate accounting, to be side-tracked by dj-ing and stand-up comedy. The real change came with 9/11 and life leading me to make a change from NYC to NC and finding my calling in education. That's the edited version of my origin story, but we always seek to find the origin stories for our PLN [professional learning network].
The website, podcast, blog and new YouTube channel seeks to be a place and space to expand learning for educational leaders. Please help me make it a resource that you can use and make even better. Use the form below to let me know what topics are on your mind - as well as your interest in being a guest on the Year of APing Dangerously Podcast. I'm excited about this new adventure and I hope to bring as many folks as possible along for the ride!
I wanted to have a space to showcase books on my to read list and past favorites to help guide the Assistant Principal journey. Fair warning, not every book suggested is loaded with pedagogy and educational acroynms - some are on here because they have either helped give me insight to staff, students and even myself and my journey. Some are here because they have come up in discussions on the podcast. Full disclosure: all links are to Amazon.com affiliate link.
